wrap you up in jesus name ann wilsonWhen you first become a mother, you begin to understand what prayer is all about. We pray, “How am I going to take care of this child?” or “What should I do about this or that?” We pray, “Help me get this baby to sleep.” Then, if our child happens to sleep all night, we pray, “Lord, I hope the baby is still breathing.” If they are sick, we pray and call everyone we know to pray for their quick recovery.

Then we go to the next phase, when we start to lose control. Some of us do this when we drop our children off at day care, while others who are fortunate enough, stay at home with them until they start school. Now we really have to develop a consistent prayer life and trust that the Lord will take care of them. This is the time in my life when the Lord gave me this prayer to pray over our children. When I first began to use this prayer, we only had one child, a daughter. Six years later we had another girl, and five years after that we had our third daughter. Even though it’s been twenty years since we started it, this prayer has stayed with all of them, and they even use it over their family and friends. We live in an era when it is more popular for women to work than to stay home with their children. Some women work out of necessity, while others work for a certain title; some work to obtain more physical things. But it is sad that the more we get, the more we want, whether it be fame, possessions, popularity, or a certain title. There is no end to it. Then you have mothers who—whether they work or stay at home—spend more time on their phones and social media than with their children. They spend less time with their husbands and even less with the Lord. Then we wonder, What is going on in this world? Why is everything so corrupt? Why does it seem like this world is turning upside down? One of the reasons is because we—as mothers of our children, wives’ of our husbands, and, most of all, servants of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—have forgotten our responsibilities.

WYUIJN

“Wrap You Up In Jesus Name” is the title of the prayer that we started years ago, and it

goes like this: Wrap You Up in Jesus Name. Don’t let any evil come upon your heart, your

soul, your body, your spirit, or your mind. Help us to be healthy and strong. Send angels to

watch over each child (this is where we would speak their names). Plead the blood of Jesus

over us all.

We started this prayer when we would go to school. As time went on, we added Mom,

Dad, grandmothers, grandfathers, family, friends, the government, etc. Now when the girls

text people,, they usually say, “WYUIJN,” at the end of their text
